🟠【思い込む(おもいこむ)】to assume / to believe (without checking)


  1. 子どもの頃、大人は何でもできると思い込んでいました。

    → When I was a child, I assumed that adults could do everything.

  2. 自分には無理だと思い込んでいたことに気づきました。

    → I realized that I had assumed something was impossible for me.



🟠【強(つよ)がる】to pretend to be strong / to act tough


  1. つらくても、つい強がってしまいます。

    → Even when it’s hard, I tend to act tough.

  2. 昔は、人の前で強がることが多かったです。

    → I used to pretend to be strong in front of others.



🟠【決断(けつだん)する】to make a decision


  1. 引っ越しを決断したとき、不安もありました。

    → When I decided to move, I also felt anxious.

  2. 大人になると、自分で決断する場面が増えます。

    → As you become an adult, there are more moments when you have to make decisions yourself.



🟠【自立(じりつ)する】to become independent


  1. 一人暮らしをして、少し自立できた気がします。

    → Living alone made me feel a bit more independent.

  2. 大人になるとは、少しずつ自立することだと思います。

    → I think becoming an adult means gradually becoming independent.



🟠【視野(しや)が広(ひろ)がる】one’s perspective broadens


  1. いろいろな人と話して、視野が広がりました

    → Talking with many people broadened my perspective.

  2. 大人になって、物事を広く考えられるようになり、視野が広がったと感じます。

    → As I grew older and learned to think more broadly, I feel that my perspective has expanded.




🟠【折り合いをつける(おりあいをつける)】to come to terms with / to find a compromise


  1. 理想と現実の間で、少しずつ折り合いをつけられるようになりました。

    → I’ve gradually learned to come to terms with the gap between ideals and reality.

  2. すべてを完璧にしようとせず、自分なりに折り合いをつけることも大切だと思います。

    → I think it’s important to find your own compromise instead of trying to be perfect.




🟠【割り切る(わりきる)】to let go / to move on pragmatically



  1. できないことはできないと割り切るようになって、気持ちが楽になりました。

    → I felt relieved after learning to let go of what I can’t do.

  2. 昔は失敗を引きずっていましたが、今は早く割り切れるようになりました。

    → I used to dwell on failures, but now I can move on more quickly.



🟠【弱音を吐く(よわねをはく)】to voice one’s worries / to admit weakness


  1. 大人になるまでは、弱音を吐くのはよくないことだと思っていました。

    → Before becoming an adult, I thought it was wrong to admit weakness.

  2. 今は、信頼できる人には弱音を吐いてもいいと思えるようになりました。

    → Now I feel it’s okay to open up to people I trust.



🟠【無邪気(むじゃき)】innocent / carefree


  1. 子どものころの無邪気さを、少し失ってしまった気がします。

    → I feel I’ve lost some of the innocence I had as a child.

  2. 無邪気に笑える時間があると、心が軽くなります。

    → Having moments when I can laugh innocently makes my heart feel lighter.



🟠【童心に帰る(どうしんにかえる)】to return to a childlike state


  1. 夢中になって遊ぶと、自然と童心に帰ることができます。

    → When I get absorbed in play, I naturally return to a childlike state.

  2. 忙しい毎日の中で、ときどき童心に帰る時間が必要だと思います。

    → I think we need moments to return to our childlike selves in our busy lives.
