【お世話になる】（おせわになる）to be helped / taken care of

例文① 日本に来たばかりのころ、田中さんの家族にお世話になった。When I first came to Japan, Tanaka’s family took care of me.

例文② 旅行中はいろいろお世話になりました。本当にありがとうございました。Thank you very much for all your help during my trip.

【面倒見がいい】（めんどうみがいい）caring / helpful

例文① 私の姉は面倒見がよくて、いつも弟や妹を助けている。My older sister is caring and always helps our younger siblings.

例文② あの先生は面倒見がいいので、学生からとても人気がある。That teacher is very helpful, so she is popular with the students.

【頼る】（たよる）to rely on

例文① 困ったときは、一人で悩まずに家族や友達を頼ってもいい。When you have a problem, it’s okay to rely on your family and friends instead of worrying alone.

例文② 彼は何でも人に頼るので、自分では何もしない。He relies on other people for everything, so he doesn’t do anything himself.

【得（とく）をする／損（そん）をする】to gain / to lose

例文① セールで半額になっていたので、安く買えて得をした。It was half-price in the sale, so I got a good deal.

例文② 必要のない物をたくさん買って、損をしてしまった。I bought many things I didn’t need and ended up wasting my money.

【甘える】（あまえる）to depend on someone’s kindness

【無償】（むしょう）free of charge / without compensation

例文② 見返りを求めず、無償で人を助けるのは簡単なことではない。It is not easy to help people without expecting anything in return.

【尽くす】（つくす）to devote oneself / do one’s best for someone

例文① 母は長い間、家族のために尽くしてきた。My mother has devoted herself to her family for many years.例文② お世話になった会社に尽くすことが、恩返しになると思っていた。I thought devoting myself to the company that had supported me would be a way of repaying my debt of gratitude.

【借りを作る】to owe someone a favor

例文① 人に借りを作るのが嫌で、困っていても助けを求めない人がいる。Some people do not ask for help even when they are in trouble because they do not like owing others a favor.
